인터넷 전문업체인 다음커뮤니케이션이 7일부터 영구적인 인터넷 메일주소를 무료 공급하는 "한메일 서비스"에 나섰다. 이에따라 인터넷 사용자들은 직장이동이나 학교졸업및 인터넷 서비스 업체(ISP) 전환등으로 인한 메일주소의 변경과 이로인한 연락단절 사태 없이 평생동안 하나의 인터넷 메일주소로 전자우편을 주고받을 수있게 됐다.

특히 이 서비스를 이용하면 별도의 전자메일용 프로그램 없이 브라우저(웹검색용 프로그램)만 있으면 인터넷 계정없이도 한메일 서비스의 홈페이지에 접속,전자우편을 검색하거나 발송할 수있다. 또 공공 도서관이나 인터넷카페는 물론 다른 사람의 PC등 인터넷 접속만 가능한 곳이면 어디에서든 전자우편 서비스를 이용할 수있어 컴퓨터 구입등의 경제적 부담으로 인터넷 전자우편 사용을 미뤄온 사람들도 자신의 인터넷메일 주소를 갖고 전세계 네티즌들과 소식을 주고받을 수있다고 회사측은 강조.

이와함께 현재 인터넷 메일주소가 있는 경우에는 그 메일함에 온 편지를 한메일로 끌어올 수있는 "POP3" 기능과 한메일로 수신한 우편을 다른 인터넷 메일주소로 자동 발송하는 "포워드 서비스" 기능도 지원한다고. 이 서비스를 이용하려면 한메일 서비스 홈페이지( http://www.hanmail.net )에 접속한 후 신규가입 절차를 거치면 된다.


우연히 보게된 글귀인데 참 새롭네요....
지금 생각 해보면 당연한 내용인데 당시에는 참 획기적인 것들이었는지..
하긴 97년도면 아직도 나우누리에서 CUI로 통신 서비스 이용할때이니..
